Royal Albert Dock Masterplan Brief
Green & Blue Infrastructure

Green Infrastructure
The size of the Royal Albert Dock site allows for a great expansion in Green Networks in Newham which is currently lacking. Despite this, there is a large park located to the north of the site which should increase permeability to the site as there is currently very little green connections between different neighbourhoods.

The size of the green network will allow people to access the site at several different places. These green networks are in places that allow visitors to have an uninterrupted view of the water front. Green space is crucial to the development as Newham is developing at a quick rate with limited open green spaces. Due to this the green space will be used as an attraction for the development with people being able to come and enjoy the outdoors. The green networks will also provide an ideal space for several activities and events due to the scale of the networks.

These green Networks wont only be used for residents, workers and visitors to enjoy but also to drastically increase the level of biodiversity of the site when compared to the pre-developed site and also surrounding neighbourhoods.

Blue Networks

The Blue network will allow all ages to enjoy the water which has been designed into the site. This will be done through the introduction of piers with a restaurant located on one of the pier's.
As well as this, activities will be incorporated into the blue network such as a floating obstacle course for people to enjoy, this inflatable recreation space shall be available for use on a Tuesday and Wednesday each week.

This will allow visitors to get closer to the water, there is steps leading down to water level for people to sit and enjoy the view. There is also a walkway running the whole way around the water which has been deigned into the site once again allowing visitors to get the best use out of the water front.
