Royal Albert Dock Masterplan Brief
Case Studies
Shenzhen wetland park

China, Shenzhen

Shenzhen has been transformed into a wetland park which has been masterplanned by eLandscript. This wetland park has been created by eLandscript opening a connecting river to the site creating a blue network. eLandscript have also created a walkway around the whole blue network allowing visitors to enjoy the water front. This has inspired the London Royal Albert Dock masterplan development as the development has also allowed water from the connecting river into the site creating a blue network. The development has also created a walkway around the water and like in Shenzhen allowing visitors to enjoy and get close to the blue network.

Germany, Hamberg

Hamberg has one of Europes largest city water front urban development projects. A large focus of this development is providing spaces that are mixed use. This is through providing buildings that have office space, residential space and provide services such at restaurants and shops. This has inspired the London Royal Albert Dock masterplan as there are three crucial mixed use buildings including the mix of uses Hamberg has tried to achieve.

Another aim of Hamberg is to create a place with a sense of identity. They have tried to achieve this through the introduction of steps down to the water front. This allows people to get closer to the water, but provides a place for visitors to sit and enjoy their time. This has also inspired the London Royal Albert Dock masterplan as the extended blue network has steps allowing visitors to, like Hamburg, get close to the water front whilst also allowing visitors to sit and enjoy their time next to the water.
